Sisters Weekend Book Club: Lauri’s book stack

(Even though we’re not technically in a book club)

Around here, Lauri is our unofficial book club of one. She always has multiple books going — audiobooks for walking, road trips to Albany, and whatever her husband Dave convinces her to listen to next.

So welcome to Lauri’s Book Stack, where she shares what she’s currently reading, what she loved, and the occasional book she abandoned halfway through.

Lauri's Book Stack – audiobook and book recommendations from Sisters Weekend Book Club

📖 On Lauri’s Nightstand

The Tiffany Girls — Shelley Noble
Audiobook via Libby on my Samsung 25 Ultra.

The God of the Woods — Liz Moore
Listening with my husband Dave. I already read it last year but I’m humoring him.

Beach Colors — Shelley Noble
Downloaded but haven’t started yet. I refuse to start a road trip without my next audiobook ready.

Alone — Megan E. Freeman
It was on my preview list as an Elementary Librarian, but when I retired, I left it behind, my niece Anna is currently reading this one so I have downloaded it and will catch up with her 🙂

⭐ Lauri’S MARCH FINISHED LIST AND RecommendATIONS

My #1 Read for 2026 remains unchanged!  Kyla Stone’s Edge of Collapse 7 book series

RECOMMENDS

Missing Lynx — Fiona Quinn
Second in the series and can’t wait for the next two books.

The Light Between Us — Laura Lynne Jackson
Highly recommend.

Signs — Laura Lynne Jackson
Also recommend.

ALSO FINISHED

  1. The Deserter Nelson DeMille and his son Alex DeMille – setting in Venezuela which was on my travel bucket list until I read this thriller
  2. Poison – John Lescroart – #17 in a series – audiobook via husband David’s Samsung 25, this was a first for us by this author even though it was the seventeen in a series.
  3. Sworn to Silence: The Truth Behind Robert Garrow – Jim Tracy – audiobook via husband David’s Samsung, David searches for books set in the Adirondacks
  4. Problematic Summer Romance – Ali Hazelwood – #2 in a series – audiobook via the Libby app on my Samsung 25Ultra
  5. Virginia Giuffre – Nigel Cawthorne – skimmed while I am waiting for her autobiography to become available
  6. Nash Falls – David Baldacci – #1 in this series
  7. Angel Falls – Nora Robers
  8. The Next Always – Nora Roberts – #1 in this series
  9. Shadow Woman – Linda Howard
  10. War of Shadows – Emma Noyes -#1 in series
  11. The Sunflower House – Adriana Allegri – different Holocaust POV
  12. The Lost Girls of Paris – Pam Jenoff

🙅‍♀️ Not For Me

The Fallen Witch — Emma Noyes
Plot became repetitive and dragged.

Half His Age — Jennette McCurdy
Returned after chapter two.

I’m Glad My Mom Died — Jennette McCurdy
Expired before I finished and I wasn’t motivated enough to get back on the waitlist.

If you have audiobook recommendations for Lauri, leave them in the comments — she’s always looking for the next one for her walks or road trips to Albany.

  1. Such a great list!! I loved Tiffany Girls too. It was a recommendation of a friend and thought it was a great audiobook. Also read The God of the Woods and loved all the ADK references. I see a few that I need to put on my list in here.

  2. I’m at the library now and was lucky enough to find The Sunflower House, The Light Between Us and The Tiffany Girls! My husband was interested in reading a book from Jim Harrison, so I figured I’d give him a try as week. I just read The Big Seven, (my first and last book by Jim Harrison, author of Legends of the Fall). Neither my husband nor I appreciated his writing style, between the lack of punctuation and constantly going off on tangents, it’s very challenging for the reader to engage. Also, lots of obsessive behavior with drinking and sex with young girls. I returned 3 more of his books I had taken out, unread.

    1. Oh goodness…. ick on Jim Harrison. Will not be reading any of his stuff. Glad you put that out there.

We know you’ve got thoughts… don’t hold out.
